Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma suffered a freak injury in the club’s battle against Monaco last night in the ongoing Ligue 1. His entire face was bloodied when Monaco’s Wilfried Singo caught him in the face with his studs in the 17th minute of the game. After the preliminary round of first aid, he was substituted by Matvei Sofanov for the remainder of the clash.

It all started with a shot from Singo and Donnarumma was quick to react, charging out of his line. Singo, in motion, tried to leap over the advancing PSG custodian, hoping to avert contact. Unfortunately, by the time he could get himself a significant height, his studs had already crashed into the face of the latter and he was clutching onto it in tremendous pain.

Gianluigi Donnarumma will return to Paris with the team this evening after suffering a facial trauma with multiple cuts. He will undergo medical examinations tomorrow and will have to rest for several days.

PSG said in an official statement post their game against Monaco

Wilfred Singo, who had no intentions of hurting Gianluigi Donnarumma, took to social media and clarified the fact that it was entirely unintentional. He also wished the Italian goalkeeper a speedy recovery.

It was a game dominated by PSG as they romped past Monaco in stunning fashion, coming back from a deficit. Desire Doue opened the scoring for PSG while Eliesse Ben Seghir restored parity from the spot. Breel Embolo’s 60th minute strike propelled Monaco to a slender lead but a brace from Ousmane Dembele and a late hit from Goncalo Ramos sealed the deal for the Parisians.

PSG is persistent about landing Marcus Rashford in the winter window

Amidst all the frenzy, PSG is hard-pressed with their intent to onboard Marcus Rashford. In an exclusive interview with the Football Insider, Mick Brown, Manchester United’s former chief scout has confirmed the fact that both the parties are looking forward to move on from their current status, and their paths, unfortunately, diverge.

Brown explained in detail that Rashford doesn’t fit into the plans of Manchester United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim.

With Marcus Rashford recently confirming that he is also looking for a challenge in an interview with Henry Winter, it simply feels that the Parisians might just keep on persisting with the English star, while the Red Devils might be looking for alternatives.
