Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim surprisingly admitted that the club is in ‘survival mode’, after dropping to a dismal 14th place on the EPL table. Amorim’s comments came after the club suffered its eighth defeat of the season, losing 2-0 to Wolverhampton.

The Red Devils have now fallen to the bottom half of the EPL table, and are on a three-match losing run. United’s woes seems to have worsened, despite a mid-season managerial change. However, new manager Ruben Amorim has led the club to just four wins in his first ten matches in-charge. The Red Devils recently lost 2-0 to 17th placed Wolves in a match which saw Bruno Fernandes being sent off. The recent defeat has added fears that the club might fail to qualify for European football next season.

Amid United’s recent struggles, Amorim bizarrely insisted that the team is simply fighting for ‘survival’ at this point of the season. While the club moved closer to the relegation places, the Portuguese highlighted the difficulties that he has been facing since joining the club.

He added that there are a lot of things that the club needs to improve, both inside and outside the pitch. Moreover, he was asked how long it would take to turn the club’s form around. To this, Amorim replied by stating that he does not have an idea.

At this moment we just have to survive and to win some time to work on the team… We need time to work. We also have to win games to sell the idea to the players.

It remains to be seen what lies ahead for Ruben Amorim’s side, as they have a tough list of fixtures ahead. Manchester United next face Newcastle United, which will be followed by a trip to Anfield early next month. They will then take on Arsenal in a heated FA Cup third round encounter.

Ruben Amorim urges 21-year-old forward to improve, amid club’s poor form

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim recently suggested that Rasmus Hojlund needs to improve, amid the club’s dismal form. While noting Hojlund’s importance in the club’s line-up, Amorim admitted that the forward is far from his best self.

Rasmus Hojlund has been having a poor run, scoring just seven times this season. During the club’s recent 2-0 loss to Wolves, the Danish forward recorded zero shots and just 14 touches. Urging him to improve, Ruben Amorim exclaimed that Hojlund has pace and strength. But, he added that the forward needs to utilize his abilities. Moreover, he lauded the youngster’s eagerness to show off his best.

He has the pace, is strong and can score goals. He scores a lot of difficult goals and that is a very important thing as a player. But he has a lot to improve.

Manchester United had paid in excess of £64 million to secure the 21-year-old’s services from Atalanta. However, he is yet to live up to his massive price-tag and become United’s first-choice number 9. He very much remains a work in progress.
