La Liga title contenders Real Madrid was up against Sevilla on Sunday. The Los Blancos made easy work of the men in red as Kylian Mbappe and Federico Valverde made headlines for two magnificent goals from outside the box.
Mbappe’s goal ahead of Christmas put a momentary end to criticism for his lack of goals. On the other hand, Federico Valverde‘s blistering strike underlines the fact that he’s having a splendid season under Carlo Ancelotti.
The first goal of the game came from Mbappe’s boots, as the Frenchman lined up a strike from the outside of the penalty area. His powerful attempt eluded Alvaro Fernandez‘s reach as the ball found the top left corner.

Valverde quickly followed suit, with his goal from even further out forcing the crowd to erupt in cheers. Goals from Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz followed, to which Sevilla briefly fought back with two goals – one in each half.
With the win, Real Madrid is now on 40 points from 18 games, but surprisingly not first! The table topper isn’t Barcelona either, with Diego Simeone‘s Atletico Madrid making its way to the very top.
Carlo Ancelotti heaps praise on Kylian Mbappe after spectacular performance vs Sevilla
After 24 competitive games and 14 goals scored in all competitions, Real boss Carlo Ancelotti is convinced that Mbappe no longer needs to ‘adapt’ himself to the team. With a stunning goal and an assist for Brahim Diaz in the 4-2 win over Sevilla, Mbappe is now on 10 goals and two assists from 16 games in La Liga.
The forward is also on a five-game scoring streak, with goals in the Champions League, La Liga and FIFA Intercontinental Cup. Speaking to the press after the game, Ancelotti directed all of his attention to Mbappe.

The Real Madrid No. 9 has been heavily criticized for holding Real Madrid back and for not playing at his best level.
Real’s next game in La Liga is against Valencia before playing Minera in the Copa del Rey Round of 32. With Barcelona close behind on 38 points and Atletico taking the lead ahead of Christmas, Ancelotti’s side has to maintain consistency if the club wants to even think of claiming the League title come May.
As the dust settles around the uncertainty surrounding Kylian Mbappe, is it thrilling to see the superstar reach his former levels, last seen with Paris Saint-Germain.
