Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has shared his thoughts ahead of the last street circuit race this year at Las Vegas. Verstappen heads into the race after winning the Brazilian GP in stellar fashion a few weeks back.

Max Verstappen has fought tooth and nail to notch wins for the Milton-Keynes-based team this season. Until the Sao Paolo GP, he had now won a race in over four months. This issue can be solely accredited to the team’s poor efforts in terms of resolving issues within the RB20.

The three-time world champion has since downplayed any large speculations of his team’s brilliance ahead of this weekend’s race. He agrees that the squad has made progress since Austin but still believes that a lot remains to be done.

We have certainly made progress since Austin, but we are not as good as the rain in Brazil made us look. If we are honest with ourselves, the races in Austin and Mexico were not exactly brilliant. In Brazil, we looked good, but to be honest, I would have preferred if we had shown the good performance on a dry track as well.

Verstappen leads the drivers’ championship by 62 points heading into the final races of the season. On the other hand, Red Bull stands third in the constructors’ championship. It is now up to the Dutchman to make his best efforts in securing both titles for the Milton-Keynes-based team this year.

Max Verstappen emphasizes the key factor to winning world championships in Formula 1

Formula 1 is considered the pinnacle of motorsport. Winning a championship, let alone winning a race, requires immense skill and brilliance from the best drivers around the world. In light of this 62-time Grand Prix winner, Max Verstappen has shared his thoughts on a key driver quality.

I know on track if you want to win, if you want to be a champion, you do need to be on the limit.

Max Verstappen told BBC Sport

Verstappen has been criticized and penalized for driving aggressively multiple times this season. However, the 27-year-old stands true to his motives, highlighting the need to push past the limits to become a champion in Formula 1.

Despite an indifference in opinion amongst many, one simply cannot dismiss Verstappen’s acute brilliance in the sport. Having won the title consecutively in the last three years, the Dutchman now eyes a fourth this season.
