The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 is level at 1-1 after the end of three Test matches. India won the first Test in Perth, and Australia came back storming in the second match in Adelaide. The third Test match at the Gabba yielded no results due to several rain interruptions. However, the star of the series and for India has been the fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. He has been sensational in the series and has troubled all the Aussie batters.
Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee praised Bumrah and stated that he has singlehandedly carried the burden of the Indian bowling attack without the presence of Mohammed Shami. Lee feels that the Indian bowling attack is outstanding, but people are saying that Bumrah is singlehandedly carrying the load of the bowling attack because he is a notch above everyone else.
Bumrah is the leading wicket-taker of the series after the three Test matches. He has scalped 21 wickets at an average of 10.90 and an economy of 2.60. Bumrah has been at his absolute best and also registered his 12th five-wicket haul in Brisbane.
Justin Langer hails Jasprit Bumrah for his bowling display in Australia
Justin Langer, former Australian opener and head coach, praised Bumrah, referring to him as the right-hand version of the great Wasim Akram. Langer added that he would hate to face both Bumrah and Akram, as they are so consistent with their line and length.
Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins are the joint second-highest wicket-takers in the ongoing series after Bumrah, with 14 wickets in the bag. Bumrah will need to extend his form at the MCG and SCG if India needs to win the series and make it to the WTC Final.
