The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy is in the balance after India won the first Test in Perth, Australia won the second Test in Adelaide, and the third Test in Brisbane was a draw. Aussie fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been at his menacing best in the second and third Test match. He has swung the new ball up top and scalped the wickets of the top-order batters.
Veteran India batter Cheteshwar Pujara has warned the Indian batters of the threat of Starc ahead of the Boxing Day Test at the MCG on December 26. Pujara wants the Indian top-order batters to negate the first spell of four to five overs from Starc.
He feels that Starc hasn’t been that great in his second or third spell with the old ball, and hence the Indian batters will need to tire him. Pujara heaped praise on Starc and said that he has improved his bowling a lot and is a wicket-taking bowler in the series every time he comes in to bowl with the new ball.
India needs to win just one more Test to retain the BGT. However, they will target winning both Test matches at the MCG and the SCG to qualify for the WTC final without depending on others. These are the two venues where India have achieved success historically.
Australian reporter has taken a dig against Virat Kohli in the news
Virat Kohli has been in the news recently for his heated altercation with a female reporter of Australian media, Channel 7. The reporter was taking photos and clips of his children without Kohli’s consent, which did not please the former Indian captain.
He engaged in a heated altercation with the reporter, as he has always maintained the privacy of his children. Tony Jones, another reporter of Channel 7, has taken a dig against Kohli after this incident. He has called Kohli a ‘bully’.
The BGT has really heated up, and Kohli will want to answer back with the bat at the MCG. He has scored a century in this series against Australia during the second innings of the first Test match in Perth, but has failed in the other five innings. Kohli has enjoyed batting at the MCG and SCG in earlier tours and he would want to repeat them.
