The Indian Cricket Team squared off against the Prime Minister’s XI in a Pink Ball warm-up match in Canberra ahead of the Day/Night Test vs. Australia at the Adelaide Oval. Rohit Sharma‘s side managed to win the match and are now confident for the upcoming Test match. The Indian captain was happy with the performance of his team in the warm-up fixture.

He feels that they got what they wanted as a team but were a little unlucky to not get the full game due to rain. Sharma said that he and his team wanted to sue whatever they got in the practice game to prepare for the Pink ball Test in Adelaide.

It was fantastic. We got what we wanted as a group. Little unlucky we could not get the whole game. Whatever time we got, we tried to make the most of it and we got whatever (out of what) we had in front of us. Absolutely fantastic (to see the crowd). We love to come to Australia and we love to see them come out and support us. Never been a time when they have come here and not turned up. Really nice to see people coming in and supporting us.

Rohit Sharma said after the match.

Sharma missed the first match of the series due to the birth of his baby boy. However, he is sure to be back in the second Test match in Adelaide.

Sharma came in to bat at number four in the Day/Night warm-up game but managed to score just three runs off 11 deliveries and got out while trying to chase an outside the off-stump delivery.

There has been lot of discussion on whether Rahul will open the innings in the second Test after the arrival of Sharma. However, Rahul opened the innings with Jaiswal in the Pink ball warm-up game.

Shubman Gill batted at number three. He too missed the first Test match against Australia due to a thumb fracture. India beat the Aussies by 295 runs after getting dismissed for just 150 in the first innings.

Jasprit Bumrah, who led the team in Sharma’s absence, scalped eight wickets in the Test match. Jaiswal scored 161 runs in the second innings and Virat Kohli smashed his 81st international century and his 30th Test ton.
