26-year-old rising boxing superstar Ryan Garcia is undoubtedly one of the most talked-about figures in the boxing community. In recent months, the American boxer has attracted attention for several controversial activities. Once again, Ryan Garcia is making headlines, but this time he is facing the possibility of another lawsuit.

‘King Ry’ is currently scheduled to participate in an exhibition boxing match on December 30 in Tokyo, Japan, under the banners of Fanmio and RIZIN. This announcement has surprised many, especially since Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions is the promoter for Garcia. In response to this situation, the CEO of Golden Boy has recently reacted and even threatened Ryan Garcia with another lawsuit.

I’m not sure if you saw the press conference for the upcoming exhibition fight of Ryan Garcia vs. Rukiya Anpo. It took place in LA on Tuesday, and I was not there because Ryan’s team thought they could negotiate this entire deal behind my back… When you sign a contract, it means it’s legally binding and means you must abide by terms or risks getting sued, which is what we unfortunately have to do if Golden Boy is not included in this fight.

In one of his well-known “Clap Back Thursdays” videos, Oscar De La Hoya issued a stern warning to Garcia and his team. According to De La Hoya, who is the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, he holds the global rights to every fight involving Garcia.

De La Hoya expressed his disappointment at hearing that Garcia planned an exhibition fight without his knowledge. This situation was particularly disheartening for the CEO of Golden Boy, given their partnership over the years. Notably, Garcia signed with Golden Boy Promotions when he was just 17 years old.

Over the years, both Garcia and De La Hoya shared a mild rivalry. However, it never escalated to the point where either De La Hoya or Garcia threatened to sue each other, unlike now. Although De La Hoya claimed to know nothing about Garcia’s exhibition bout, a fellow Golden Boy associate states otherwise.

President of Golden Boy Promotion discusses Ryan Garcia’s upcoming exhibition fight

Many believe that Ryan Garcia possesses the skill set to become a legendary figure in boxing. However, after his most recent professional fight against Devin Haney, his life took a significant turn. The New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) imposed a year-long ban on the 26-year-old. Garcia tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) following the fight against Haney.

As Garcia’s suspension approaches its end, he is eager to build momentum for his return to professional boxing. The 26-year-old boxer believes that Rukiya Anpo is the ideal opponent to help him gain the necessary momentum for his upcoming significant fights. Before this exhibition match, Eric Gomez, the President of Golden Boy Promotions, spoke about Garcia’s upcoming clash.

This exhibition is something that we’ve been discussing for a while, and it finally happened and came together. We’re his promoters, so we’re involved. We’re finalizing all of the final details now. It’s great for Japan to be able to have a star like Ryan (Garcia) do his thing.

Unlike Oscar De La Hoya, Gomez noted that Golden Boy Promotions was involved in Garcia’s exhibition fight in Japan. However, these statements from the president of Golden Boy were made prior to De La Hoya’s lawsuit threatening action against their boxer. This has created significant confusion surrounding the circumstances of the bout. Only time will tell what happens next between the duo.
