The Tennessee Titans have been dealt a big blow as star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is set to miss the rest of the training camp after suffering a knee injury. Others have to step up in his absence.
NFL insider Paul Kuharsky, who covers all things Titans, shared the unfortunate news on Thursday. According to him, DeAndre Hopkins suffered a strained knee and could sit out for 4 to 6 weeks.
Kuharsky did not mention the severity of the All-Pro wideout’s injury, but judging by the timeline, he could even miss out on the entire pre-season. It’s a massive blow for quarterback Will Levis and his quest for an improved second year with the Titans.
Hopkins switched to Tennessee after missing out on 15 games in two years for the Arizona Cardinals for various reasons. His 2021 season ended prematurely after suffering a hamstring injury, but the following year the 32-year-old served a ban for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy.

DeAndre Hopkins played all 17 games during his debut year with the Titans. For the first time since 2020, he crossed 1000 receiving yards from 75 catches and 7 touchdowns.
Who will replace DeAndre Hopkins in the Tennessee Titans?
Hopkins may be a Pro Bowl-caliber receiver, but he’s getting on his age. So, keeping that in mind, the Titans and the new management of Brian Callahan decided to use free agency by adding some depth.
They signed fellow veteran wideout Calvin Ridley, who was with the Jacksonville Jaguars the last 2 years but only featured regularly in 2023. Ridley had 76 receptions, 1016 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns.
According to reports from the Titans camp, Ridley and Levis’ chemistry has improved over the past few months of training together.
It’s been good. We’ve just got to keep working at it, especially just the balls down the field. It’s really cool to see us start connecting more on those. He’s [Calvin Ridley] so dang fast; sometimes you have to throw the ball a little differently. Will Levis said

Besides Ridley, the Titans signed former Bengals receiver Tyler Boyd for 8 seasons. The 29-year-old entered free agency after his contract ran out and later signed a one-year deal with the Titans in March. Boyd had 67 catches for 667 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Titans shopped well to provide backup for DeAndre Hopkins if something like a long-term injury occurred. They also have sixth-round rookie Jha’Quan Jackson, who could move up the chart if required.
