“stop having the rock dictate”- WWE fans LAMBAST The Rock’s backstage pull potentially sabotaging John Cena’s reported WrestleMania 41 plans
The latest update on John Cena's planned WrestleMania opponent states that it'd have to be run through The Rock to stay on course.

John Cena will compete in his last WrestleMania in 2025. However, who he’d face at The Showcase of the Immortals is all smoke and mirrors. A previous report stated that WWE has strongly talked about pitting Cena against either of the world champions at Mania in an attempt to break Ric Flair‘s record. It appears like the company is moving forward with that direction.
As per PWInsider, the majority of recent discussions have circled around John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. A number of sources relayed the outlet that they’ve heard the same thing. However, it’d change in a hurry at the behest of someone who’s not only named The Rock but is also a member of TKO’s Board of Directors.
The report noted that if The Great One makes himself available for WrestleMania, the reported Cena vs. Rhodes match would be reworked to fit into Rock’s vision. As of now, it doesn’t seem like Dwayne Johnson has committed to any role, be it a non-wrestling one, for WrestleMania.
It falls in line with a recent scoop from Dr. Chris Featherstone. It claimed that WWE creative is moving ahead with the notion that Rock wouldn’t be able to do WrestleMania. However, he’s rumored to make an appearance on the Netflix premiere of Raw. Maybe that’d clear up some air about his status.
If he does not make it to The Show of Shows, Cena would likely take on Cody for the Undisputed WWE title. That’d be a much different route than what created an online ruckus recently. The fans solemnly rejected the idea of the Peacemaker star locking horns with Logan Paul. Also, WrestleVotes added that it was met with resounding disapproval from some higher-ups within WWE.
Fans back John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes for WrestleMania, call out The Rock
As much as John Cena‘s anticipated showdown with Cody Rhodes sounds appealing to a chunk of fans, some of them are miffed at the mere thought that The Rock could have a say in it.
The following reactions on X are a blend of some on board with Cena vs. Rhodes, some as usual against it, while others are busy slamming Rock. One fan repulsed Rock’s apparent stranglehold on WWE’s creative department.
Another one disputed the original report, saying that The Brahma Bull’s plans would always be vested in people like Triple H and Nick Khan. For what it’s worth, the fans believe Cena has to go for broke and become a 17-time world champion at WrestleMania 41. That’d put an end to Cody’s ongoing title reign that WWE plans to halt somewhere next year.
