Bayley is one of the most talented female WWE superstars of her generation. The Role Model has shown the WWE Universe that she can be effective as a heel as well as a babyface. Bayley’s work as a heel is regarded as one of the best of her career.

In addition to possessing great athleticism in the ring, she has proven that she is a good talker too. The Role Model began her wrestling career at the age of 18 under the wrestling promotion Big Time wrestling. Bayley wrestled her first match in 2008, at the promotion.

Before joining WWE in 2012, The Role Model wrestled for independent promotions such as NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, Pro Wrestling Destination, Shine Wrestling, and Shimmer Women Athletes. She wrestled under the name Davina Rose during this time. Bayley’s real name is Pamela Rose Martinez, and she hasn’t wrestled under her real name in her career.

Bayley made her WWE television debut in March 2013 at NXT Brand. She wrestled under the ring name Bayley and was defeated by Paige in her debut match. She wrestled on the NXT brand until 2016 and became a one-time NXT Women’s Champion during that time. The Role Model became the NXT Women’s Champion by defeating Sasha Banks at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn.

The Role Model made her WWE main roster debut in 2016. Since being a part of the main roster, she has won the RAW Women’s Championship once and the SmackDown Women’s Championship twice. The Role Model is also the 2017 MITB winner and won the tag team championship twice with Sasha Banks.

Bayley revealed the origins of her given name

During an appearance on Talk is Jericho in 2016, Bayley stated that she didn’t want to be girly, so she kept throwing names like Bobby or Jordan. Although Bayley was on her list, she said she wasn’t very interested in owning it. She stated that she was given three choices, two of which she remembers being Bayley and Davia.

The Role Model stated that she disliked Davia and accepted Bayley despite the fact that she hated it. She said that she chose to spell it B-A-Y instead of B-A-I as she is from the Bay area. The role model stated that Bayley finally meant something to her, and she now adores the name.

“I was throwing out names like Bobby or Jordan, something like that because I was like ‘I don’t want it to be super girly….Man, I guess I’ll just go with Bayley….OK, if I choose this one I have to spell it B-A-Y because I’m from the Bay Area and I thought I was so cool. Yeah, it has to mean something to me. So then I went with that and now I love it.”

Bayley was born on June 15th, 1989, in San Jose, California, and is of Mexican American descent. The Role Model has been into sports since she was in high school and was the captain of the basketball team. She also participated in martial arts and track. Bayley was in a relationship with wrestler Aaron Solo, but they broke up in February 2021.

Along with Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, and Charlotte Flair, she is also a part of the Four Horsewomen. They are called the Four Horsewomen as they are good friends in real life and were traveling companions during their early days in the company.
