Last week’s episode of Monday Night Raw featured a guest appearance from Cody Rhodes. The WWE Undisputed Champion met Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods in a backstage segment and told the former Tag Team Champions that they should be ashamed of themselves for what they did to Big E. The Ghanaian clearly did not like this remark by the 39-year-old and shot back at the current champion after Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Kofi Kingston reposted a clip of Rhodes reprimanding The New Day. Furthermore, he said that what happened to the American Nightmare at Saturday Night’s Main Event was karmic retribution for his actions. While he was successful in defending the WWE Undisputed Championship against Kevin Owens using shady methods, Rhodes did not end the night standing tall.
Shortly after the show went off the air, Rhodes was cutting a promo for the live audience. He was then ambushed by Owens from behind, and The Prizefighter dropped him on his head with a package piledriver. Several match officials rushed to the ring to check up on him and to make sure that the Canadian stayed away from him.

Kevin Owens then raised the winged eagle belt and walked away with it. Later on, WWE provided a health update on Rhodes, which suggests that he will be out of action for a while. However, fans should not have to wait too long to see the WWE Undisputed Champion on their screens, as he should be back in time for Raw’s inaugural episode on Netflix.
Vince Russo feels that Cody Rhodes’ character is stale
Cody Rhodes plays the role of a white-meat babyface, similar to that of John Cena. While such a role has garnered him immense popularity and made him the face of the company, such a character is usually not enjoyed by everyone. Apparently, this list also includes Vince Russo.
While speaking on The Brand, Russo claimed that WWE was not doing anything significant with Rhodes. He criticized the promotion for not surrounding him with a story and that his character was getting stale. The former WWE writer said that the SmackDown Superstar’s only job had become to wrestle.
While Rhodes has been part of compelling feuds over the past few months, this criticism did somewhat hold true for the few months after WrestleMania 40. After winning the title, the champion defended it against the likes of AJ Styles and Logan Paul. Although these were great matches, they felt like one-off feuds that would never have any major storyline consequences.
