Kevin Owens has been on a rampage since relegating Cody Rhodes to a hospital bed of a Package Piledriver that he delivered once Saturday Night’s Main Event went off the air. WWE has already announced that Rhodes suffered cervical swelling and was kept under overnight observation at a local hospital. That said, he’s entitled to a few weeks off. Who’s going to fill in his shoes then?
It appears Kevin is more than willing to do so. Taking to X, the 40-year-old proclaimed that he’s the new, true WWE Champion. Owens also announced that he’ll be competing on four shows as part of the upcoming WWE holiday tour. In the promotional poster attached to Kevin’s post, he could be seen photoshopped into Cody’s American Nightmare robe.
The Canuck is flaunting the iconic Winged Eagle title that he seized from Rhodes. And if it wasn’t obvious already, The Prizefighter believes that he’s the rightful world champion despite being pinned by Rhodes this past Saturday. As the former AEW EVP is likely done appearing on WWE programming for the rest of the year, Kevin is going to further the storyline by himself.
Also, it appears that the Winged Eagle title will be featured on television for longer than fans had expected. Recently, The Canadian Dream posted a picture of himself with the Winged Eagle belt, saying it’s his. What WWE CCO Triple H initially presented as a special gift to Cody for Saturday Night’s Main Event is Kevin’s newfound obsession.
It’s clear as daylight that Owens and Rhodes will complete their trilogy. For that, there’s one more match that needs to happen between the two. By the looks of it, the first SmackDown of 2025 might be where they duke it out.
Is Kevin Owens lined up to wrestle Triple H after SNME angle?
As the fans saw, Triple H got into a heated confrontation with Kevin Owens that stemmed from his remorseless ambush on Cody Rhodes. The 14-time World Champion even got physical with his former protégé Owens, but the referees pulled them apart before the matter could escalate.
That clip garnered massive attention on social media, with some netizens even wondering if the real-life Paul Levesque is gearing up for an in-ring return against The Prizefighter. However, that’s just not the case.
As per Dr. Chris Featherstone, The Game’s outburst on KO was intended to establish the latter as an even bigger bad guy in the storyline. Moreover, the WWE CCO doesn’t plan on wrestling again. For the unversed, he’s more than two years into retirement. A cardiac event in late 2021 forced The Cerebral Assassin to hang up his boots for good.
