In the modern age of professional wrestling, where kayfabe’s a dying breed, there are a few names who are still holding one end tight. And Drew McIntyre is one of them. The Scottish Warrior was recently a guest on the Busted Open Radio podcast, where he spoke his heart out. One couldn’t discern if it was a shoot or not.
That said, at a time when Drew’s enmeshed in psychological turmoil, he has someone to spare a thought for him. Current AEW personality Jim Ross took to X and assured McIntyre that he’s always there to help the Scot out if he needs any. But why exactly is there a lot of fuss regarding Drew’s breakdown?
It’s because he underscored the vicissitudes of being in the wrestling biz while blurring the lines of kayfabe and reality. The 39-year-old went back home to Scotland after losing a gruesome Hell in a Cell match to CM Punk. In the meantime, he reflected on the years of toil this industry had taken on his personal life.
He lamented missing out on important family affairs and some funerals he shouldn’t have skipped. All of that at what expense? Being on the road for WWE almost week in and week out couldn’t even fetch him some well-wishers over there who could check on him.
The Scot affirmed that he could count on his fingers the amount of people he works with who reached out to him lately. Saying that he’s done being a giver his whole life, he’ll now only take his due credit. Also, taking a shot at the internet trolls, the former WWE Champion savagely asserted that he doesn’t care about them. And just like that, Drew walked off the set.
Drew McIntyre begins hunt to slay Roman Reigns’ Bloodline lackeys
Having received 16 stitches on his forehead owing to CM Punk‘s rash swing with a metal toolbox might be a career-ending proposition to some. Not for Drew McIntyre. Two months removed from his epic bloodbath with The Best in the World, McIntyre returned to WWE TV a couple of weeks ago.
He first took Jey Uso out backstage, only to drop Sami Zayn with a Claymore Kick to close out Raw. Zayn and Drew will battle it out at Saturday Night’s Main Event in a few hours from now. But before that, The Scottish Psychopath stopped by SmackDown last night.
The Scottish Warrior laid waste to one good-legged Jimmy Uso. Drew’s mad at The Usos and Sami over reuniting with Roman Reigns even after what The OTC made them go through for years. McIntyre believes that the three of them sold out for nothing.
