Instead of WrestleMania 41, WWE planning Seth Rollins vs CM Punk’s dream match for upcoming $2 billion arena show: Reports
There could be some trouble in paradise as WWE is seemingly pulling the trigger on the CM Punk-Seth Rollins melodrama.
Seth Rollins and CM Punk is the way forward [via- WWE]
From the minute CM Punk walked back into WWE, the fans have been clamoring for his match with Seth Rollins. It was supposed to go down at this year’s WrestleMania, but it couldn’t. How long until this does happen, though? A report from Dr. Chris Featherstone states that the dream match is currently penciled in for the Netflix premiere of Monday Night Raw on January 6.
Ever since this came out, the wrestling pundits have been going back and forth on why this shouldn’t be the way forward. Most of them believe that a showdown of Punk vs. Rollins caliber has to happen at WrestleMania and not on an episode of Raw, no matter how historic it is going to be. The two men at loggerheads wouldn’t complain anyway whenever they get a chance to beat each other up.
This week on Raw, both Rollins and Punk outlined their respective reasons for hating each other. First, Punk sat down with Jackie Redmond. The Second City Saint detailed how he was a mentor to a 16-year-old Seth. Punk said he doesn’t loathe The Visionary at all.
However, now that the starter’s back, the second-string can go warm a bench. Later on in the night, Seth cut a live promo from the arena in Wichita. The Architect accused his arch-rival of spewing half-baked truth and spinning the narrative to his advantage. Rollins asserted that Punk ghosted him and everyone back in the locker room who tried to check on him after he walked out of WWE in 2014.
The Bears fanatic wasn’t done until he made it personal with the 46-year-old. Seth even claimed that he has outgunned the former AEW star in terms of the accolades they possess, with one being headlining a WrestleMania.
Is CM Punk in for another WrestleMania snub?
The entire fate of CM Punk‘s current WWE run depends proportionally on whether he would main event WrestleMania someday or not. Punk, who’s in his mid-40s, is hellbent on making that happen.
But with reports of his impending spar with Seth Rollins set for Raw’s Netflix debut episode, is there a chance that this rivalry will culminate at WrestleMania 41? Indeed, there’s a good chunk of fans that’d like to believe so.
WWE under Triple H has seen a ton of iconic trilogies play out. The Chief Content Officer might follow suit in this case as well. Punk is fresh off an unlikely conjunction with the OG Bloodline.
There’s also a theory floating on the internet that WWE could have The Best in the World face Roman Reigns at The Show of Shows next year based on their internet-breaking Survivor Series moment.
