On last week’s episode of SmackDown, all hell broke loose when Paul Heyman introduced CM Punk as the fifth member of the OG Bloodline team. Heyman came in clutch for his Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, by recruiting a former client. However, there were some who speculated that The Wiseman would’ve brought a different former Paul Heyman Guy in the form of Brock Lesnar. Among those who believed this theory was none other than Rikishi.
While speaking on his Off The Top podcast, the real-life Bloodline member detailed his thoughts on the whole angle. According to him, Punk being the fifth member was a swerve, as he predicted Lesnar returning instead. Rikishi explained that Punk felt like a standalone act who didn’t need to be involved in The Bloodline saga. As such, the decision to book him in the WarGames match at Survivor Series caught him off-guard.
Rikishi further stated that a program between Punk and Reigns would be monumental if it happened. The former Intercontinental Champion pitched the possible idea of faction warfare with The Second City Saint forming his own stable.
As for Lesnar returning, it looks unlikely that WWE will bring him back anytime soon. Despite a few mentions of him on television, reports suggested that the company has not initiated any plans for a potential comeback.
For those unversed, Brock Lesnar was implicated in the s*xual trafficking lawsuit filed by Janel Grant in January. WWE canceled plans for his return at the Royal Rumble and subsequently nixed future creative ideas for him. Therefore, only time will tell if Lesnar does return to WWE programming in the future.
Roman Reigns and CM Punk had a tense face-to-face segment on SmackDown
As advertised by WWE, Roman Reigns and CM Punk sat down to hash out their issues on SmackDown. Ahead of the WarGames match, Paul Heyman acted as a peacemaker as he attempted to convince Reigns why he should team up with Punk. Unsurprisingly, both men voiced their displeasure for one another.
Punk revealed that he was willing to join the OG Bloodline to seek revenge on Solo Sikoa‘s faction. The Straight Edge Superstar referenced the attack on Heyman at Madison Square Garden in June. However, Punk dropped a massive bombshell before leaving.
The former AEW wrestler said that Heyman owed him a favor, which would be fulfilled following Survivor Series: WarGames. Reigns asked his Wiseman about the deal, as the latter claimed they would talk about it after Saturday.
