Max Verstappen has emerged victorious in Formula 1’s 2024 Drivers’ Championship after finishing ahead of Lando Norris at the Las Vegas GP. The Dutchman joined the long list of highly achieved championship winners and joined the likes of Sebastian Vettel and Alain Prost with four world championships. As the teams prepare to finish the season, let’s take a look at past drivers who have achieved results like Verstappen in Formula 1.

Max Verstappen won his fourth consecutive world championship after sustaining a rollercoaster of a season. The Dutchman won his first championship in the 2021 season under extremely controversial conditions and never looked back. Dating way back to 1954, Juan Manuel Fangio was the first driver ever to achieve four championships in a row. Fangio emerged victorious during the early days of Formula 1 and etched his name in the record books.

Moving down the line, the Legendary Michael Schumacher was the next driver to score such a feat. However, the German one-upped the previous record and won five championships in a row from 2000 to 2004. Following Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel was the next consecutive championship winner from 2010 to 2013 under Red Bull’s dominion back then.

Lewis Hamilton was the latest driver to win four championships in a row after struggling to win the 2016 championship against Nico Rosberg. The seven-time world champion won four in a row from 2017 to 2020 to etch his name in the books. Verstappen became the fifth driver in the history of Formula 1 to achieve such a notable feat, at Vegas.

Max Verstappen came in the 2024 season after finishing the record-shattering dominant performance in the 2023 season. The Dutchman, despite facing massive struggles, still scored some notable achievements this season. First and foremost, the stellar drive at the Brazilian GP, scoring the win after starting in P17 helped Verstappen gain a lot of applause.

The four-time world champion became the only driver in the history of Formula 1 to win from 10 different starting positions on the grid. Moreover, Verstappen became the driver to pay the most amount of money for attaining the super license. The 27-year-old had to pay a whopping total of €1,200,000 ($1,250,195) after a dominant run in the previous season.

The 2024 season still has two races pending as the teams set aim for the constructors’ championship.
