The latest WWE Holiday Tour has been highly successful for the company, putting on incredible matches throughout. The promotion recently visited Chicago, which meant putting the hometown boy CM Punk in a high-profile match. Thus, the Second City Saint recently challenged Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship inside of a steel cage.
During their intense and gruesome match, they had opened the cage door and were doing their best to stop each other from walking out. Punk eventually caught the champion with a GTS and seemingly had the match won. However, as he was crawling out, Dominik Mysterio appeared out of nowhere and slammed the door in his face. The Latino star then held the door open for Gunther, who walked out to retain his championship.
Punk has had various interactions with Mysterio throughout this holiday tour. At a recent event, he restrained the former NXT North American Champion to help Rey Mysterio lash his son with a belt. Furthermore, he has also saved Damian Priest from a beatdown by his former stablemate.

Regardless, fans need not be too upset about this result, as Punk vs. Gunther will likely be a program on TV in 2025. Several reports had stated that this was a match planned for Survivor Series, but things changed at the last moment. The Straight Edge Superstar has already expressed his wish to win a world title, and The Ring General seems like a great feud for him.
Seth Rollins calls CM Punk a demon that he needs to extract from his soul
The rivalry between Seth Rollins and CM Punk has been boiling for nearly a year on WWE programming. However, it could be said that this match has been building for much longer, way before the Best in the World even returned to WWE. With the two superstars looking to settle their differences on January 6th at Raw’s premiere on Netflix, the Architect had a few words to say about his rival.
During an interview with Jackie Redmond, Seth Rollins claimed that Punk needed WWE while the company did not need him. He went off on the 46-year-old for being a hypocrite. This eats at him, and it is hard for him to just let it go. His disdain had grown so much that they were not going to have a match but a fight.
Rollins’ hate for him grew so much more when he saw CM Punk join Roman Reigns at Survivor Series. He claimed that their pose at the end of the show angered him so much that he wanted to throw his remote at the TV. The former Universal Champion said that people were going to see a side of him that nobody had ever seen.
