Max Verstappen has shown his capabilities in another race as he has finally clinched his eighth win of the 2024 season. The Dutchman encountered multiple challenges since he won his last race in Spain and struggled to get a victory.

However, the curse was broken at the Brazilian GP where he started from P17 and achieved a stellar victory. In the post-race conference, Max Verstappen couldn’t resist flexing his victory, pointing out that he’d beaten what he saw as a British system against him.

There’s a long history between Verstappen and the British media, fueled by their supposed bias favoring British drivers like Lando Norris. This rivalry intensified after the fierce duels between Norris and Verstappen in Austin and Mexico.

The Dutchman received two 10-second penalties in Mexico for exceeding track limits and pushing Norris. Meanwhile, the Briton only got a five-second penalty for a similar incident in Austin, frustrating Verstappen and his team.

After securing a stunning victory when many doubted he could win again in 2024, Verstappen didn’t hold back. Following his dominant performance at the Brazilian GP, he took shots at the British media, calling out their biases.

Sarcastically, he questioned if they even knew where the press conference was or if they had already headed to the airport, joking that they probably couldn’t find anything to criticize this time. The Dutchman tackled the unpredictable weather conditions at Interlagos and despite starting at the bottom he drove very well thanks to his new engine.

Max Verstappen used Brazilian GP qualifying as a motivation in main race

Max Verstappen’s incredible victory showed just how well the new Rb20 engine performed, and with his skills, the result was fantastic. His qualifying though, was a disaster due to several on-track issues, including a red flag caused by Lance Stroll’s crash in Q2.

This stopped him from setting a competitive lap, leaving him to start from P17. Frustrated after qualifying, Verstappen admitted it was nearly impossible to fight his way to the front from so far back. However, he turned that frustration into motivation, and everything fell into place, allowing him to claim his eighth win of the season.

Of course I was very frustrated with qualifying. But we tried to just use it as a good motivation in the race. Luckily we had a great start and from there onwards, we were just having a really good feeling in the car.

While the Dutchman secured victory, his title rival Lando Norris settled in sixth place by scoring only eight points. The Dutchman has successfully widened the gap between him and Norris in the driver’s standings. With three more races remaining, maintaining this lead is crucial in order to claim his fourth consecutive title.
