Carlos Sainz was one of the hottest properties in the driver market. However, with top seats filling out, the Spaniard faced a dilemma of choosing between the slowest teams on the F1 grid. Eventually, it came down to Williams and Sauber(soon to be Audi) for his future alternatives. Subsequently, after the Belgian GP, the three-time race winner announced his plans to join Williams from 2025 as fans lamented the move by claiming he deserved better.
Carlos Sainz began his journey on the F1 grid with Toro Rosso. However, he soon realized that he would have to carve out his own future and went on to join Renault and then McLaren. In 2020, he hit the jackpot with Ferrari signing the Spanish driver in a bid to bring back the glory to Maranello. On the contrary, to his dismay, this dream ended with Lewis Hamilton snubbing out his seat for 2025 leaving him to scrounge for pieces.
Witnessing the slowing pace of the driver market, the Spaniard signed for Williams on a two-year deal. However, this move was not appreciated in the F1 community as fans bickered about the Ferrari driver moving to a backmarker.
