Willaims Racing driver Franco Colapinto put in a stellar performance to finish P8 at the Azerbaijan GP on Sunday. Colapinto has now secured points in only his second-ever race at the pinnacle of motorsport.
Franco Colapinto has been chosen to drive for the Grove-based team, as a replacement for Logan Sargeant. Colapinto has impressed many with his performances, including the seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Lewis Hamilton was seen walking up to Colapinto and congratulating him on securing his first-ever points in Formula 1. The Argentinian has thereafter posted about the surreal moment on his Instagram account.

Colapinto has described this experience as a dream come true, having idolized Hamilton from a very young age. The driver will therefore look to work harder and perform even better in the remaining seven races of the 2024 season.

Williams Racing made a gamble in choosing Franco Colapinto unexpectedly after having sacked Logan Sargeant. The 21-year-old has, however, proven to be a strong asset after securing solid points in Baku.

Colapinto has revealed his aspirations to prove his worth as a true Formula 1 driver in the near future. He has also through and through thanked the Grove-based team for entrusting him with the opportunity to drive in the ongoing campaign.
A bright future lies ahead of the Argentinian if he continues to make better efforts to improve his skills on the track. Quite a few teams will monitor Colapinto’s progress to figure out a way to find him a permanent seat for upcoming years of the sport.
