I think Lawson is doing very well. It seems logical to me that he is about to step up. I think: let him finish this season there and give him confidence. And then the team has to decide what they are going to do for next year.

Max Verstappen is currently contracted with Red Bull until the end of 2028. Lawson has three more races to prove his worth to the team for a permanent seat next year.

Helmut Marko praises Max Verstappen after the latter’s stellar win at International

Red Bull Technical Advisor Helmut Marko was at a loss for words after Max Verstappen won in Brazil despite starting from P17 on the grid. He had a forgetful qualifying result after a controversial red flag saw him knocked out in Q2 and also had a five-place grid penalty for engine change.

Helmut Marko applauded the Dutchman’s instinct in managing the car during tricky conditions. He also remarked that Verstappen flew through the grid when he had clean air during the 69-lap race.

He was driving in his own world. When Max had free air, he was flying. His overtakes were sensationally deployed and when there was a lot of rain, he also begged to stop the race. It’s about his incredible car control, especially in the rain. That instinct leads him to explore the limit much more than anyone else.

Verstappen now holds a commanding 62-point lead in the Drivers’ Championship heading into the last three races of the campaign. He will look to keep up this momentum to clinch his fourth consecutive F1 title.
