Red Bull has had a history of making controversial driver changes in its two F1 teams. Sergio Perez is alleged to be the latest victim soon as the Mexican driver could be forced out of Milton Keynes. Now, F1 pundit Martin Brundle has compared the 34-yar-old’s situation to Daniel Ricciardo.

Daniel Ricciardo suffered a similar fate earlier this year. The Australian driver was sacked from RB in favor of Liam Lawson. Ricciardo did not even get a proper farewell to thank fans and his team as his career in the sport virtually came to an end.

Brundle reckoned that he felt the same for Perez as he did for Ricciardo. The Briton claimed that Checo lost his mojo as he failed to live to the pressure of racing alongside Max Verstappen. Martin Brundle confessed that such a situation must be painful for Sergio Perez every time he stepped inside the garage.

I feel the same way about Sergio as I did about Daniel Ricciardo, actually… He’s lost his mojo, he’s lost his way and all the pressure that’s being heaped on that, it must be [difficult]. To turn up to the track every day must be painful.

Martin Brundle would be ‘relieved’ for Sergio Perez

Perez has admitted that he will have discussions with Red Bull over his future in the coming days. With Liam Lawson waiting or an answer. Martin Brundle claimed that he would be slightly relieved if he was in Checo’s shoes. The F1 presenter emphasized that the Mexican driver must be going through a difficult period.

But I’ll be slightly relieved when it’s over. It must be purgatory for him at the moment.

Martin Brundle added

Red Bull will soon announce its plans for 2025. If Sergio Perez loses his seat at Milton Keynes, the 34-year-old would be forced to sit on the sidelines for next year. Moreover, it is unlikely that another team would be interested in signing Checo amidst the recent influx of exciting rookies in the driver market.
