The 10-time Grand Prix winner Valtteri Bottas has found himself without an F1 seat for the 2025 season. He is looking for a reserve driver role at Mercedes for next year, but with the recent announcement of Cadillac’s arrival in 2026, he is setting his sights on a grid return.
Valtteri Bottas genuinely feels that his chances of making a return to the grid have increased with the American outfit’s arrival. As per the recent rumors, Indycar driver Colton Herta is being seen as one of the favorites to amass one of the seats.
However, such things have not dampened the spirits of Bottas.
When asked if he has already showcased his interest to the $64 Billion worth American team for 2026, he had the following to add.
Bottas is one of the veterans in F1. He has amassed most of his success in his five years driving for Mercedes alongside Lewis Hamilton. Keeping this in view, a reserve driver role for 2025 could help the Finnish driver further solidify his case for the 2026 drive with Cadillac.
Valtteri Bottas’s take on potentially trying his hands at Indycar
While Valtteri Bottas has set his eyes on 2026, for next year, he could do other things alongside a potential reserve driver role with Mercedes. He was recently stressed about diving into the world of other racing categories, and he had the following to add.
Bottas is one of the most experienced drivers in F1. He has proved his worth as an extremely fast racer many a time, but it’s just that Sauber’s 2024 challenger is not quick enough. This has led to a fall in his stock as an F1 driver and could be the reason why he was overlooked for a potential drive for next year by the various teams on the grid.
