Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is in awe of the shift Max Verstappen pulled off in the 2024 F1 season. The Dutchman didn’t have the best weaponry, but despite this, he managed to secure his fourth consecutive world championship.

Max Verstappen amassed nine Grand Prix wins in the campaign. In light of this, Christian Horner has taken the time to shed light on Verstappen’s most notable triumph.

I think he’s been absolutely outstanding this year. I mean, to have achieved what he’s done, nine victories, eight pole positions, four sprint race wins, and to have won the championship and some real highlights. Obviously, the Brazil race was, I think, one of his very, very best. And we’ve had a car that’s been difficult to tame this year, but he’s done that, and he’s done an absolutely stunning job.

In the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, Verstappen started the rain-affected race in P17. However, against all odds, he managed to triumph in the 71-lap race beating the Alpine duo of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly who came in second and third place.

Max Verstappen’ 2024 championship the best among his accolades?

While Christian Horner has deemed the Interlagos race as Max Verstappen’s best in the 2024 F1 season, he has also talked about the latter’s best title campaign. As indicated earlier, Verstappen has amassed four consecutive titles since 2021.

So I think of his four championships so far, for me, this one really stands out.

This year’s campaign went pretty much down to the wire. McLaren’s Lando Norris showcased a tough fight against Verstappen but ultimately, fell out of the drivers’ title race in Las Vegas.

The four-time world champion is getting better and better with each passing season and this is the most scary part about him. The RB20 was nowhere near the level of challengers like the MCL38 but despite this, Verstappen managed to secure the world title.

The 2025 season could prove to be one of the fiercest campaigns in F1 for a long time. The top teams have gotten immensely closer in terms of performance and Verstappen would once again, be required to bring out his absolute A-game! Several eyes will be on him next year and it will be fascinating to see how he will deal with all the expectations riding on him.
