Carlos Sainz‘s career loomed in uncertainty after Scuderia Ferrari signed Lewis Hamilton for 2025. The Spanish driver was forced to look for options. Despite initially being in contact with Mercedes and Red Bull, Sainz signed a deal with Williams for next season.

The 30-year-old is a 4-time F1 race winner. Carlos Sainz has consistently matched teammate Charles Leclerc since joining Maranello in 2021. However, it seems that none of the top 3 teams had faith in the Spanish driver. So much so, that Mercedes decided to take a bet on 18-year-old Kimi Antonelli instead.

Nevertheless, Sainz has managed to stay focused despite his failure of grabbing a top seat. The Spanish driver once again showed what he is capable of by taking a stellar victory at the Mexican GP last weekend. It is unfortunate to see the 30-year-old switch to Williams next year.

The Spanish driver was the sole non-Red Bull driver to win a race in 2023. Carlos Sainz has continued to achieve decent results for Ferrari this season. However, Mercedes and Red Bull simply have different plans for their driver line-ups, leaving no room for the 30-year-old.

Sainz’s Mexican GP was once again a statement to his driving abilities. The fact that a driver performing at his prime will be left fighting in the midfield soon shows the cruel reality of Formula 1. Carlos Sainz has mentioned that simply was unlucky as Lewis Hamilton decided to end his career at Ferrari.

Williams is a promising long-term project under James Vowles. Carlos Sainz understands that he can help rebuild the Grove-based team. However, the 30-year-old will be keeping his options open if a top team does have a vacancy in the coming years.

Ultimately, Carlos Sainz will be aiming to keep his head down and focus on his driving next year. The 30-year-old achieved his dream of another race victory with Ferrari. Fans would hope that Sainz can carry this momentum to Williams next season.
