Scuderia Ferrari decided to sack Carlos Sainz for 2025 even before the start of this season. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton will replace the Spanish driver at Maranello next year. However, Sainz still has one opportunity left to make the Prancing Horse to lament this call.

Carlos Sainz has pulled off consistent performances this season, matching teammate Charles Leclerc at most occasions. The 30-year-old even fulfilled his aim of winning one more race with the Scuderia before leaving Maranello at the end of 2024.

The Spaniard will move to Williams, taking part in the post-season test after the Abu Dhabi GP. The season finale in Yas Marina witnesses the battle between Ferrari and McLaren for the Constructors’ title. This could be the ideal moment for Carlos Sainz to prove his worth as he departs the team.

Is Lewis Hamilton a fix to Ferrari’s non-existent problem?

Lewis Hamilton is undoubtedly an all-time great. The British driver has achieved historic success in the sport over the years. No team could refuse the chance to have the 39-year-old in their line-up. Carlos Sainz even labeled this as the sole reason for his exit.

However, Scuderia Ferrari had one of the strongest pairings in the form of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. The Italian team is in the battle to win its first F1 title since 2008 courtesy of both drivers. This in turn shows that perhaps Maranello did not even need to find a replacement for Sainz.

The Prancing Horse trails McLaren by 21 points heading into the season finale. It will be a tough ask for the Scuderia to defeat the British squad. Nevertheless, Sainz and Leclerc have a realistic chance of emerging victorious.

If the two drivers manage to score enough points to emerge victorious, it would be the biggest slap in the face for Ferrari. Carlos Sainz would prove that he was more than capable of achieving the most for the team. However, Maranello simply discarded him in favor of Hamilton.
