McLaren enjoyed a highly dominant outing in the 2024 season especially due to Red Bull’s downfall. The Woking-based constructor is highly likely to receive tough competition from the rivals in the coming season. As a result, McLaren CEO Zak Brown warned the team to not be too arrogant over their superior pace.

McLaren still had a close competition with Ferrari for the constructors’ championship until the last race of the season. Zak Brown reckoned that the Orange squad labeling themselves as the ‘favorite’ of everyone would be arrogant. However, the 53-year-old believed that the team was definitely one of the favorites of the people.

I think favorites would be arrogant, I see no reason why we can’t be one of the favorites.

Moreover, the 2024 season witnessed the maximum number of race winners over a single year in Formula 1. Brown highlighted that over four teams were capable of winning races over the upcoming season and could be named as the favorite. As a result, the Briton declared that a single team couldn’t be called everyone’s favorite due to this very reason.

You’ve got four teams that are winning races on a regular basis, so I don’t see how you can put anybody as a favorite going into next year.

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, Formula 1’s best pairing?

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri maximized points every race weekend and enabled the team to breeze past the rivals in the standings. Zak Brown reckoned that the sport witnessed the best driving pairing every weekend. Apart from this, Brown listed the notable achievements that Norris and Piastri achieved in a single season that hadn’t been achieved for a very long time.

Every race weekend, you watch Formula 1’s best driver pairing, Lando and Oscar, get behind the wheel of the MCL38 and put in a shift for this team. More often than not this year, that’s been at the front of the field, with six grand prix wins, 21 podiums, and eight pole positions, including a run of 14 consecutive podiums, the second-longest streak in our history.

McLaren will still have to work hard on their pace to maintain the dominance and not suffer from a Red Bull situation. The coming season is the final edition of the ground-effect era as all teams peak in knowledge. Moreover, the teams will also have to prepare for the regulations changes in the 2026 season alongside working on the upcoming year’s chassis.
