Lando Norris attempted his level best to overcome Max Verstappen in the 2024 drivers’ world championship. Despite McLaren’s dominant pace over Red Bull’s struggling form, Norris was unable to contend for the championship win. As a result, Crashgate Mastermind Flavio Briatore asserted the ‘problem’ that the Briton faced during his outing in the recently concluded season.
Max Verstappen won his fourth consecutive drivers’ championship despite Red Bull’s disappointing form. Lando Norris couldn’t close the gap to the championship leader and ultimately lost out on his maiden title. Norris also committed multiple mistakes during races which caused his imminent championship loss.
Flavio Briatore had a short and stern response about the difference between Norris’s and Verstappen’s driving styles. Briatore reckoned that the Briton’s ‘problem’ against the Dutchman was the former’s ‘inexperience’ of driving in Formula 1. Moreover, the 74-year-old highlighted that the 25-year-old was ‘too young’ to compete against the reigning world champion.
The problem for Norris compared to Verstappen this season was his inexperience. He is still young, maybe too young.

McLaren’s learning in the 2024 season would prove crucial for the team’s success in the upcoming season. Red Bull, on the other hand, might be unable to contend for championships or even race wins if such form continues. Briatore reckoned that Norris’s situation in the next season would be ‘much better’. Moreover, the Italian highlighted that the 25-year-old’s learnings would be helpful in the next season.
Next year it might be better. The experience of this season can help in any case.

The 2025 season will put forth major changes to the different constructors on the grid. As a result, the coming season would be extremely exciting and interesting to witness as Red Bull will attempt to manage a comeback. On the other hand, Verstappen will have to defend hard against the in-form Norris from the beginning of the campaign.
Red Bull will have the mountainous task of matching if not surpassing McLaren’s form on the grid. Apart from this, the team will also need learnings for the regulation changes of 2026 and work on it as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Norris would only be required to minimize errors and ensure a smooth sailing performance throughout the 2025 season.
