World No. 1 Jannik Sinner was the benchmark of men’s tennis in 2024. The Italian won two Grand Slam titles, three Masters 1000 trophies, the ATP Finals, and the Davis Cup. As the 2025 season approaches, former American coach Rick Macci has highlighted a key area Sinner needs to focus on to dominate in the new season.
Macci, who once coached 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams, believes Sinner must keep his mental game strong. He claims that the Italian is now arguably the biggest sports star in his country and must maintain his focus to continue his success.
The key for Sinner game the rest of his career will be the Mental Game. Everything Around Him Has Changed. He is now in glorified rare air with the Pope and Soccer in Italy. But it is still the Italian Flamethrower a Court a Net and Competing. @janniksin

The mental aspect of the game has been crucial to Sinner’s rise to the top. The Italian faced several challenges, particularly in the second half of the season, when a controversial doping scandal came to light.
Sinner tested positive twice for clostebol in March but was not suspended. Despite this, he faced intense criticism from the tennis community. However, Sinner managed to put the controversy behind him, playing exceptional tennis and achieving the world No. 1 ranking for the first time in his career.
Jannik Sinner’s preparations for the 2025 Australian Open
With the 2025 Australian Open just around the corner, Jannik Sinner is seen as one of the top contenders for the men’s title. The Italian star is the defending champion in Melbourne. In 2024, he defeated 10-time winner Novak Djokovic and came back from two sets down to beat Daniil Medvedev in the final.
Sinner will not play any tournaments leading up to the Australian Open. He had a long and successful 2024 season, finishing strong by helping Italy defend their Davis Cup title in November. The world No. 1 has already started his pre-season training in Dubai.
Recently, Sinner made an appearance at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where he waved the chequered flag. He mentioned that he will head home for Christmas before traveling to Australia to prepare for the Grand Slam.
The 2025 Australian Open will begin on Sunday, January 12, and end on January 26. For the second straight year, the tournament will have a Sunday start. The first round will take place over three days. Qualifying matches will run from January 6 to January 11, with players needing to win three matches to enter the main draw.
