Jannik Sinner faced no ban in the verdict given by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) after testing positive for the banned anabolic steroid clostebol. Later, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) challenged the verdict and approached the Court of Arbitration for Court (CAS) to demand a ban. CAS will give its judgment in February next year.

Iga Swiatek had the banned drug trimetazidine in her sample, and she was handed a one-month ban. She is in Australia for the United Cup and ahead of the tournament, she was asked whether she thinks WADA could also appeal her verdict.

Well, I don’t think there is any reason, because I didn’t play three tournaments, I was suspended for a long time, and I lost number one because of that. I also know how the procedure worked, and I gave every possible evidence and there is not much honestly, to do more.

Iga Swiatek said at the press conference

The 23-year-old tested positive for the banned drug before the Cincinnati Open and the prize money she won in the tournament was taken away. As she was provisionally suspended for three weeks, she missed three events on the Asian swing (Korea Open, China Open, and Wuhan Open). Because of missing the mandatory tournaments, she lost points and eventually the No.1 ranking to Aryna Sabalenka.

Andy Roddick is concerned about Iga Swiatek

Andy Roddick is concerned about Iga Swiatek as he doesn’t know how she will deal with questions about her doping case and how she will perform at the Australian Open, where did her best in 2022 by reaching the semifinals. Roddick is one of her supporters as he backed her since the report of her doping case came out.

Because what is going to happen is that she is going to give the same answer to the same question on the same day for the next three months. Lesser people would become impatient, I certainly would have. She is sensitive, you can see her emote more than Jannik Sinner, who keeps things calm and tight.

Andy Roddick said on his Served with Andy Roddick podcast

Roddick also thinks Swiatek needs to perform better at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and US Open (she won in 2022). The Pole has won five Grand Slam titles, four of which were French Open. In Melbourne, Swiatek lost in the fourth and third rounds in 2023 and 2024 respectively. At Wimbledon, she never reached the semifinal.
