Sara Errani fulfilled one of her biggest dreams in 2024 by winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics with Jasmine Paolini. As a Career Golden Slam winner in doubles, Errani has always been passionate about tennis. However, she recently gained attention for her comments on an issue off the court—Jannik Sinner‘s doping scandal and Nick Kyrgios‘ criticism of the Italian player.

Errani shared her thoughts on Kyrgios’ remarks. She admitted to enjoying the Australian’s entertaining style of play but expressed disappointment with his harsh comments on Sinner. The Australian’s strong words about the doping case did not sit well with her.

I don’t know him personally. He has a very strong personality and I’ve always liked him. Watching him play is a spectacle. Thinking about my personality, I shouldn’t like him, but I like him. Lately, he’s made some negative and unfortunate comments: in this case, I don’t like him that much. I’m not just talking about what he said about Sinner. He’s made some pretty strong statements. All this while he’s not present is played less… he seems self-centered and I don’t like him very much.

Sara Errani said in an Italian Podcast Supernova

Kyrgios has been vocal since news broke about Sinner’s positive test for clostebol at Indian Wells last March. He has frequently criticized the World No. 1 in the media and has shown no signs of backing down.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz to headline the ATP Tour in 2025

In 2024, Sinner and Alcaraz won 12 ATP titles, with Sinner taking home eight and Alcaraz winning four. Sinner consistently reached at least the quarterfinals in every tournament he played. In contrast, Alcaraz’s form dipped after the Paris Olympics, affecting his end-of-season results.

Despite Sinner’s consistency, Alcaraz had the edge in their head-to-head meetings. The two players faced each other thrice in 2024, with Alcaraz winning all three matches. Their most notable clash was in the Roland Garros semifinals, where Alcaraz staged a thrilling comeback from two sets to one down to beat Sinner.

As the 2025 season begins, fans are eagerly watching to see how these young stars will perform. With both players aiming for glory, their rivalry promises to make the year exciting for tennis enthusiasts.
