Sean O’Malley is undoubtedly one of the most entertaining fighters on the UFC roster. The former UFC bantamweight champion lost his title at UFC 307 in a humiliating loss against Merab Dvalishvili. However, ‘Suga’ wants to make a comeback and has already taken the first significant step.
Sean O’Malley has a huge online following where he frequently posts skits, memes, and updates about his personal life. However, all this consumes energy and time which the fighter doesn’t want anymore. Recently, ‘Suga’ decided to go on a social media detox and has shared his immediate response.
In today’s fight game, social media has become an essential tool for self-promotion, especially among the new generation of fighters. Many use these platforms to spark rivalries and keep fans engaged, building their personal brands. In a business where ticket sales and marketability are highly valued, it’s nearly impossible for fighters to ignore its importance.
O’Malley announced that his social media accounts will be managed by his teammates, ensuring regular content updates. He also shared his plans to take 2025 as an opportunity for personal growth and transformation. The former champion is determined to reclaim the bantamweight title during this time, focusing on elevating himself to a whole new level.
Sean O’Malley talks about his devastating loss against Merab Dvalishvili
Sean O’Malley became a household name after he won the UFC bantamweight title back at UFC 292. However, in September of this year, Merab Dvalishvili took it upon himself to stop this title reign which sparked a rivalry. Both fighters finally met at UFC 306 where the Georgian put on a great show and defeated O’Malley.
After the loss, O’Malley claimed that he had won the fight and judges robbed him of a win. It didn’t go well among fans given his performance was absolutely lackluster. However, that sentiment has finally changed and the Arizona native has since accepted Dvalishvili’s win.
Merab Dvalishvili is currently scheduled to defend his title against top challenger Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 311. Given their recent rivalry, the hype around it is massive and O’Malley will have a close look at the winner. It won’t be surprising to see ‘Suga’ finding his way to another title shot next year.
