Over the years, the UFC community has witnessed the rise of several top MMA fighters. One notable figure is former UFC undisputed lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Although he has since retired from competition, he now trains his fellow brothers from Dagestan. In a few weeks, an important fight card is approaching that features two of his closest disciples, Islam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov.

Islam Makhachev is currently the UFC lightweight champion. After Khabib Nurmagomedov’s retirement from the sport, Makhachev quickly reclaimed the UFC lightweight title. He is now scheduled to face the #1 ranked contender in the division, Arman Tsarukyan, in his upcoming fight. Interestingly, another student and cousin of Khabib will also be featured on the card alongside Makhachev.

Umar Nurmagomedov, Khabib’s cousin, has been an outstanding competitor in the UFC bantamweight division. With an undefeated record, the ‘Young Eagle’ is now preparing to fight Merab Dvalishvili for the bantamweight title at the upcoming UFC 311 in January 2025.

While Islam Makhachev will headline the event, Umar is scheduled to compete in the co-main event of the night. Interestingly, ahead of their fight, several legends of the sport have joined their training camp and begun participating in sparring sessions with Makhachev and Umar.

‘GOAT’ Demetrious Johnson joins Khabib Nurmagomedov’s training camp ahead of UFC 311

Demetrious Johnson, a former UFC flyweight champion, is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport. Johnson is renowned for his wrestling skills and fight intelligence in the MMA community. Recently, he joined the training camp of UFC superstars Islam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov ahead of their upcoming fights.

In a widely discussed video from the training camp, Johnson was seen standing near Makhachev, who was working out with weights. Arman Tsarukyan may be one of the toughest challenges of the Dagestani fighter’s career so far. To address any potential weaknesses, Khabib and his fellow coaches might have sought assistance from a top MMA fighter like Demetrious Johnson. Interestingly, Johnson was not the only one observed around the training camp.

Henry Cejudo is a well-known figure in the UFC community. Over the years, Triple C has gained significant recognition for his impressive career achievements. During his time in the UFC, Cejudo has faced some formidable opponents, including the bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili. This experience may be one reason for his involvement in Umar Nurmagomedov’s training camp.

Although Umar boasts an impressive perfect record in the promotion, Dvalishvili is no less formidable. Currently, the UFC bantamweight champion has one of the longest active win streaks in the promotion. As a result, Umar wants to train with the best to address any weaknesses before facing Dvalishvili.

Interestingly, Khabib now faces the challenge of preparing both of his strong horses before their championship fights at UFC 311. And for that, the former UFC champion does not want to leave any stone unturned.
