Besides being a UFC commentator, Joe Rogan is also a well-known podcaster recognized for his engaging conversations. Recently, Rogan talked about the journey of strongman and MMA fighter Mariusz Pudzianowski. Interestingly, Pudzianowski’s story closely resembles that of former UFC fighter Brock Lesnar‘s.

Joe Rogan hosts one of the most popular podcast shows in the world. Over the years, the show has gained significant attention due to the variety of topics discussed and the interesting guests featured. Most recently, well-known businessman and athlete Bert Sorin appeared on Rogan’s show. During their conversation about the Strongman competition, they talked about Mariusz Pudzianowski’s transition from being a strongman to becoming an MMA fighter.

You know one of those guys is fighting MMA, he’s been fighting, Mariusz Pudzianowski… He went from being a strongman to being a really good MMA fighter. In the beginning he was getting f**ked up but he tried to dive in right away… He fought Tim Sylvia like really early on…He fought Tim Sylvia in his third pro fight.

In his third professional MMA fight, Pudzianowski faced off against former UFC champion Tim Sylvia. Unfortunately for the former Strongman, the fight did not end well for him. The seasoned Sylvia capitalized on Pudzianowski’s inexperience and secured a victory via submission. A similar scenario also occurred in the UFC when former WWE champion Brock Lesnar made the transition to MMA.

Interestingly, unlike Pudzianowski, Lesnar faced Frank Mir, in his second professional fight. However, the outcome was similar, as Lesnar also suffered a crushing defeat via submission. Rogan praised Pudzianowski for continuing to compete as an MMA fighter, while he also had a lot to say about Lesnar’s career in the UFC.

Joe Rogan believed Brock Lesnar had the potential to become one of the all-time greats in the UFC

Brock Lesnar made his UFC debut back in 2008. Although he suffered a devastating setback in his promotional debut fight, Lesnar jumped right back up. As such, he went on to beat several heavyweight vets such as Heath Herring, Randy Couture, and Shane Carwin. Interestingly, Joe Rogan who also witnessed his journey, has shared his tidbits on it.

Rogan is one individual in the UFC community who never shies away from praising exceptionally talented fighters, and Lesnar is one of them. A few years ago, the UFC commentator expressed his belief that the ‘Beast Incarnate’ had the potential to become one of the legends of the promotion.

I swear if Brock Lesnar got into mixed martial arts right out of college. Went college wrestler right into training, really learned striking and learned slowly and took on small fights… instead of all that time doing WWE, which I’m sure he made a f**kload of money. Good for him… But man, I really think he could have been one of the all-time greats. I really do.

According to Rogan, Lesnar was a genetically gifted fighter who had the potential to make a significant impact in the world of MMA. However, after winning four consecutive fights following his defeat by Mir, Lesnar’s trajectory in the promotion took a drastic downturn. After going winless in his last (3rd against Mark Hunt was an NC) three fights in the UFC, the WWE superstar decided to leave the top MMA promotion.
