The ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor is arguably the most popular superstars in the combat sports community. However, following a recent downfall due to severe legal issues, McGregor has become a topic of discussion for many. Among those commenting on the situation is UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad is one of the notable voices in the conversation.

Belal ‘Remember The Name’ Muhammad was recently featured on the Fight Back Podcast, where he explored a variety of intriguing topics. One notable discussion was about Conor McGregor, which he had with host Jake Shields. The Irishman has been found liable in a sexual assault case, an issue that has garnered significant attention, including from the UFC welterweight champion.

I don’t think he’s happy, you can just tell he’s not happy. He’s that guy now that’s like embarrassing to think that. He (Conor McGregor) obviously he built up the sport, right. He built it up to another level… But when you look at him now, it’s like now you’re bringing it down now. You’re the stereotype for what people think fighters are, ‘You’re just drunks, you’re addicts, you’re this, you’re that.’

According to Muhammad, McGregor is somewhat of a contradictory individual compared to what he was a few years ago. Additionally, the UFC welterweight champion notes that the Irishman’s antics have contributed to a degradation of the reputation of fighters in general.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Muhammad has made a negative remark directed at McGregor. Over the years, both UFC fighters have engaged in a back-and-forth rivalry on several occasions. Notably, the UFC welterweight champion has referred to McGregor as a drug addict multiple times. It will be interesting to see if they ever clash in the octagon someday.

Belal Muhammad believes Conor McGregor would ‘never’ fight him

Amidst his soaring popularity, Conor McGregor has established himself as an excellent mixed martial artist. Over the years, the Irishman has defeated several formidable opponents, building a strong reputation within the promotion. However, his recent performance in the UFC is concerning. Currently, McGregor has not appeared in the UFC octagon since his last fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

In the midst of all this, McGregor has engaged in multiple online battles with several UFC fighters. Notably, Belal Muhammad is one of the fighters involved in these confrontations. Muhammad has developed an intriguing theory regarding the Irishman’s verbal exchanges.

He would never (fight me) and it would be the thing and I think that’s why he just wants to put it, he just wants to put those tweets out there to act like he would… He’s just going to stay, trying to keep that popularity in the fight game.

Belal Muhammad further continued

Muhammad has just come off a championship victory against Leon Edwards at UFC 304. He is now focusing on his first title defense, potentially against Shavkat Rakhmonov. Meanwhile, McGregor has recently hinted at a possible boxing match against Logan Paul in the near future. This indicates that neither McGregor nor Muhammad will fight each other anytime soon.
