Klay Thompson, who played with Steph Curry, terms Reggie Miller as the “greatest shooter”
Mavericks star man Klay Thompson set out a controversial take regarding the greatest 3-point shooter recently.
Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Reggie Miller
Klay Thompson of the Dallas Mavericks made NBA history in a dramatic game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He surpassed renowned shooter Reggie Miller for fifth place on the all-time three-point list. However, Thompson attracted the NBA World’s interest for various reasons, that somewhat included his former teammate, Stephen Curry.
The Mavericks’ public relations team declared that Thompson’s 2,561st career three-pointer, made at 8:49 in the fourth quarter, marked the milestone. Thompson had 2,558 points going into the game, and his rise to fifth place demonstrates his amazing shooting ability. After surpassing the great Miller, Thompson took to his socials to praise the former Indiana Pacers player.
Thompson’s former teammate, Curry is often considered the greatest shooter ever in recent NBA history. Not only that, having played alongside him for almost 13-14 years with the Golden State Warriors, one would believe that Thompson would choose Curry as the ‘greatest shooter ever.’ However, his choice of choosing Miller has surely raised doubts among the NBA community as well as the DubNation.

Three of the four players who rank higher than Thompson on the esteemed list are active in the NBA right now. According to Basketball Reference, Stephen Curry leads the pack with an incredible 3,841 three-pointers. James Harden is in second position after Curry with 3,022, followed by Ray Allen in third and Damian Lillard in fourth with 2,973 and 2,683, respectively.
Klay Thompson opens up on ‘surreal’ moment after passing Reggie Miller in 3-point shooting list
On Christmas Day, Klay Thompson, a guard for the Dallas Mavericks, described it as “surreal” to surpass one of his NBA heroes on the all-time three-pointers list. In addition, Thompson made four long-range shots in the Mavs’ 105-99 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. His efforts moved him up to 5th place, one position ahead of Reggie Miller.
As Miller did during his 18-year tenure with the Indiana Pacers, Thompson has contributed to setting a benchmark and is among the best pure jumpers of his time. Also, Thompson is the player that many young people in the NBA will try to imitate.
