To keep the 7-foot center away from him, Marshall then approached Nurkic and placed both of his hands on the 30-year-old’s chest. Shortly after Marshall touched Nurkic, the Bosnian swiftly turned his arm and gave the 26-year-old a head slap. Marshall responded by punching Nurkic with his right hand, which struck his left ear but missed his face.

Kyrie Irving shares his thoughts on Jusuf Nurkic-Naji Marshall Altercation

Standing only a few steps away from the Jusuf Nurkic x Naji Marshall heated altercation, Kyrie Irving appeared genuinely perplexed and taken aback by the abrupt start of the violence. In a postgame interview after the game, he discussed his emotions and explained his reluctance to join the battle.

PJ’s fine. Their ejections. Yeah, throw that s**t under the rug, man. Excuse my language. It’s part of basketball sometimes. Haven’t seen it. Maybe that’s just the way we end 2024, where somebody actually swings in the NBA. Maybe that’ll help our ratings.

Kyrie Irving told the reporters

In today’s NBA, which is sometimes criticized for lacking intensity in comparison to previous eras, the ejections were a rare instance of physicality. Aside from this, despite his poor efficiency, shooting only 6 of 21 from the field, Irving led the team with 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. Daniel Gafford scored 16 points and pulled down 5 rebounds, while Spencer Dinwiddie and Maxi Kleber both added 15 points in their side’s win against the Suns.
