Draymond Green responds to Grizzlies coach after Zach Edey incident
A game between the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies can never be free from drama. As the two teams took on each other in the NBA Cup on Friday Night, more drama followed when Warriors star Draymond Green was whistled for a foul on Grizzlies rookie, Zach Edey.
The play happened during the third quarter of the game, when Draymond Green was seen apparently ‘tripping up’ Zach Edey. Following the game, Grizzlies HC Taylor Jenkins addressed the play in the postgame presser.
Jenkins called the play from Green ‘very disappointing’ as it broke the code in the league. However, the veteran star wasn’t going to take that criticism lying down.
On a post by NBA on ESPN about Jenkins’ comments, Draymond Green lashed out at the Grizzlies coach. Green had a simple two-word answer to Jenkins’ comments about him ‘breaking the code’ in the league with his ‘dirty’ play.

Since the game, the NBA has taken the issue into their own hands. Following the media appeals by coach Jenkins, the NBA overturned the call made on Friday night.
The in-game officials had ruled the play a transition take foul on Draymond Green. However, after review, the NBA changed the foul to a Flagrant 1 penalty on Green, who was ejected from the game anyway after a bout of ‘questionable officiating’.
Can Draymond Green stick to the ’10 Technicals’ limit?
Draymond Green was ejected from Friday night’s game after picking up two technical fouls. With the added flagrant 1 penalty, Warriors fans are justifiably worried about a possible suspension for their defensive star if these penalties keep stacking up. Green is already up to 4 technical fouls this season in 12 games, with the NBA’s suspension threshold being 16 technicals.
Over the last few years, Draymond Green has often been in hot water for his ‘questionable’ plays. However, at the start of this season, Green made a prediction on his podcast, the Draymond Green Show. He stated that his overall technical foul tally would be below 10 this season.
Since the 2013-14 season, Draymond Green has never finished a full NBA season with less than 10 technical fouls, often breaching the 16 technical threshold set by the NBA. With 70 games still to go this season, the Warriors star will have a tough task in front of him to keep his emotions at bay against questionably officiating.
