Draymond Green and LeBron James

Before the Los Angeles Lakers’ matchup against the Miami Heat, many fans were questioning the recent performances of their star, LeBron James. He had been experiencing a slump, with poor scoring and stats by his usual high standards. Notably, Golden State Warriors legend Draymond Green also weighed in on the situation.

Amid discussions about James’ potential retirement, Green shared his thoughts on the Lakers star’s current struggles. On his self-titled show, which aired on Tuesday, Green acknowledged that “father time” is catching up to the greatest basketball player of all time, but he emphasized that it’s not yet to the point where James should consider retiring immediately.

Is father time catching up to him, absolutely, because father time catches up to everyone. However, where I disagree is people are saying, we just saw it, he’s done now, we’ve been waiting on it, he’s done. No, no, no I disagree with that. Quite frankly what it looks like to me is he’s a little tired… However, I think LeBron has hit a little bit of a wall right now.

In addition to Green, some former players, including Jeff Teague, have stated that James ought to retire following the recent troubles. James is presently shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from outside the arc, while he is averaging 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game.

James has failed to hit a single shot from beyond the arc in the last four matches out of 19 attempts. This has been part of his ongoing problems. According to ESPN, James was more concerned with the team’s progress than with whether he would be able to play all 82 games at the age of 40.

Lakers HC JJ Redick made a clear admission regarding LeBron James’ ‘slump’

LeBron James has not been looking for himself this season. With the Lakers legend nearing 40, he seems to have a ‘slump’ in his performances lately. Lakers coach JJ Redick expressed doubt that the veteran star’s intention to play in all 82 games this season will be sustained. This is because James is currently experiencing his worst shooting slump since his rookie year.

I don’t know that’s in the best interest of him and us if he does that, but if he’s feeling well and feeling good, then he should play… It’s something I ain’t discussing right now.

JJ Redick told ESPN

That said, James put all the doubts to bed in his recent matchup against the Miami Heat. He dropped a great individual performance, scoring 29 points.

However, his side suffered a harsh 41-point blowout against the Heat. The Lakers are now (12-10) in the West and sit at 9th seed on the table. It remains to be seen how they perform in the upcoming matchups.
