The Golden State Warriors once again faced off against the Minnesota Timberwolves after playing against them on December 6. Last time around, it was the Timberwolves that snatched the win against the Warriors at the Chase Center. However, this time around, the Warriors bounced back in style with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green back in the starting lineup.

Steve Kerr decided to start Green after the team lost on Friday with the veteran playing off the bench. Moving him once again to his more established role worked out because he had several crucial defensive stops in the closing minutes despite getting into foul trouble early. Not only that he also dropped Curry’s famous ‘Night-Night’ celebration after dunking on the Timberwolves defense in the dying minutes.

Stephen Curry’s 30-point performance put the Warriors ahead, and Buddy Hield appears to have recovered from his previous shooting slump. He finished with 27 points after making 53.8 percent of his long-range attempts. A key member of the attack in recent games, Jonathan Kuminga, contributed 20 points.

As for the Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards scored 27 points to lead the scoring for his side. Green continues to have the last laugh over the Timberwolves defender Rudy Gobert, as evidenced by a game-winning dunk in the final minute. Gobert, who may be Green’s biggest opponent, only managed four points and nine rebounds.

Draymond Green spoke about his ‘bench role’ for the Warriors

On December 6th night, the Golden State Warriors announced their starting lineup to face the Minnesota Timberwolves. To everyone’s surprise, their veteran defender Draymond Green was on the bench and was replaced by youngster Jonathan Kuminga. However, this led to the Warriors losing against the Timberwolves. Regarding this, Green spoke about his ‘new bench role’ for his side.

So if his opportunity goes through me, then it is what it is. He earned the opportunity. He (Jonathan Kuminga) played extremely well [Thursday]. You want to give that another look or two or three or four or however long. If it works, then you continue with it.

Draymond Green told ESPN

Most recently, Green was shifted back to the starting lineup against the Timberwolves on Sunday night. This time, they came out victorious with Green proving to play a significant role in defense for his side. He kept the Timberwolves offense quiet in the 4th quarter which decided the outcome of the match. It remains to be seen now how Steve Kerr handles his role in the season.
