Draymond Green isn’t happy about switching his position to accommodate Jonathan Kuminga in the lineup
Warriors' veteran, Draymond Green, sacrifices his position for Jonathan Kuminga to boost teams' overall success.
Draymond Green makes sacrifice for his buddy, Kuminga.
Draymond Green has always been supportive of Jonathan Kuminga, helping him in his basketball journey as a veteran who was critical to the Golden State Warriors’ dynasty years. The fact that both players share the same position as power forwards likely has something to do with the bond they have developed over the past couple of years.
Draymond is also assisting the young prospect with the business aspect of the game. Kuminga, who is currently in his third year in the NBA, will be a free agent soon. Green has been vocal about not wanting Kuminga to be traded from the Warriors, while also helping him improve his trade value.
Kuminga recently recorded a career-high 34 points on a back-to-back night. Safe to say, he’s been listening.
Sacrificing his position as a point forward to play center, Draymond is shifting to center to let the young gun have his limelight. Green emphasized the growth of Kuminga from a sixth man to a greater role, urging him to “stay that aggressive.”
Draymond Green knows he’ll likely have to play more center than he’d like to fit Jonathan Kuminga in more lineups.

“I’ll be honest, I didn’t want to play a ton of five. It’s hard…I don’t love it for entire games at this point. But I love to win.” pic.twitter.com/jC4DJcZ2rK
In the Warriors vs. Suns 109-105 win, Jonathan Kuminga contributed with another 34-point performance. Hitting 60 percent of his field goals and grabbing 9 rebounds, Kuminga has been playing the best he ever has. He told reporters in the post-game press conference that he was a little “nervous” while taking those late free throws in the game, but knew he’d been shooting better lately.
Draymond Green addresses his recent profane exchange with Buddy Hield that has went viral
In a post-game interview, Draymond Green opened up about his heated exchange with teammate Buddy Hield. As the 24-second shot clock was winding down in a crucial possession, Green passed the ball to Hield, who struggled to find an open shot. With the defense closing in, Hield opted to pass the ball back to Green, who was left with little time to take a hurried three-point shot.
Pissed off at the sequence of play that resulted from Hield’s sluggish decision-making, Green called out Hield. In a fit of frustration, Green shouted at Hield: “Wake the f*ck up or go sit the f*ck down. Shit!” The remark was caught by microphones and instantly went viral.

“I'll say it right into the mic I don't give a damn. It was needed… Buddy hasn't had the opportunity to play a bunch of meaningful basketball in this league. Guess what? It's… pic.twitter.com/MZw3dSoQgi
Buddy Hield had his worst game so far against the Suns since joining the team, struggling to score even a single bucket. Hitting none of his field goals and seven three-point attempts, Hield had a pretty rough night.
Will be interesting to see if Green’s harsh words will actually help Hield in making a comeback as the Warriors prepares to host the mighty Cleveland Cavaliers this upcoming Monday.
