Denver Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook lit up social media on Saturday, sharing a video of himself dancing to Kendrick Lamar’s chart-topping single, Squable Up, from the rapper’s latest album, GNX. The album has been all over the internet, bursting to the top of Billboard charts for multiple weeks. Showing off his West Coast roots, Westbrook grooved to the lead single off the album.
The post, captioned “Just bored lol,” quickly went viral, amassing nearly 400,000 likes on Instagram, with ex-teammates like Anthony Davis and Dennis Schroder dropping by in the comments section of the post to show their appreciation for ‘Brodie.’
The video definitely resonated with everyone on multiple levels, especially showing off the bond between Russell Westbrook and Kendrick Lamar, both hailing from Los Angeles: Westbrook from Long Beach and Lamar from Compton. Their mutual admiration dates back years, including Westbrook’s public support during Lamar’s high-profile feud with Drake earlier this year.
Westbrook even appeared at Lamar’s The Pop Out: Ken and Friends concert in Inglewood, California, solidifying their connection as LA cultural icons. In an earlier interview, he reflected on attending Lamar’s recent show.
